Hi, We are not god Vishnu to protect the entire earth, but at least we as the informed & responsible citizens can being about a difference by keeping our surroundings clean, eco friendly & without harming the nature. It is important to plant more trees, increase greenery, save water, protect the lakes, water bodies around us, and to keep non polluted environment which is not just conducive for humans but also for the entire earth & all living, non living entities. We may not have been aware of the #ParisClimateChangeAgreement or obvious sustainable development goals but as we live, every day we experience some sort of change in our environment. Which no one can deny, not even @The White House @Donald J Trump DonaldTrump @Jair Bolsonaro (Save Amazon) or @Narendra Modi . It is true that there is raise in the temperature every year. Most of the natural calamities are induced by human disturbances. Sea level is raising or not but many islands are sinking, glaciers are melting, heat is raising
I don't know whether rise in global temperature level is 2 degrees or 1.5 degrees, but I am sure, agree with me, that that pollution, heat, uncertainties in weather are fast increasing and we want our living nature in most possible pristine state.
It is always easy to exhaust the natural resources by exploiting it to the core but becomes difficult to return back to original form. Isn't it? Recovery process of depletion of ozone hole took years of action plan to control the usage of #CFCs under the Montreal Protocol. Is it easy to clean any polluted river? #NamamiGange must be a warning bell for India & Indian rivers. Fighting the release of unregulated Industrial affluents and other aspects to clean, revive, replenish the river system with (BOD) is herculean task, easier said than done.
I know just by planting trees or by inculcating good environmentally sound practices may not reverse the whole system drastically. But it can be a first step in bringing about a change at the microscopic level. At the state, national and global level @United Nations and other environmental organizations have to bring about a consensus to establish global and local levels and to bring about a revolution in the planning, governance and development models.
It's necessary for the respective governments to plan and implement circular economic models from micro to macro level, increase the forest cover, encourage going green, eco friendly and sustainable development. If we plan and begin it from today, at least we can continue to make this world a better place to live. To postpone the natural disasters induced by human interventions. To pass this natural heritage, environment to our next generation, as we had inherited it from our ancestors. Every bit of our contribution to the nature, environment and ecosystem is our liability for what we are depleting it every part of it, for our daily convenience. It is the time for us to face it now. We shouldn't be cowards to call it off the long efforts, which may yield fruits some day or to turn our backs than facing the real issue out there threatening the very healthy existence of mother Earth.
Since Rio Earth Summit, 1992, we declared our Earth as our mother, but are we treating it as our mother? (Or as in most depleting societies even the aged elders, parents, mothers, "after their utility is being exhausted!!?", there are treated as burdens or their responsibility is seen as trouble. I think same is the case with our concerns for nature, earth and environment. We want everything from it but we are not ready to give back anything to it. That's really selfishness!)
It's now or never moment for humans, from micro level to administrative budgeting level, it's the high time to act. Acting or fighting for the nature doesn't mean sacrificing everything or adjust everything.. but it basically means to embrace the nature every moment of our life, practices, tradition & living like our ancestors did. Indian tradition is the best example of treating the nature in most respected way and also to have the idea of nature, getting along with it in every aspect of life. We already have the past to teach us.
History has taught us many things. It has also taught us without nature, earth, environment there is no human life. It is also the message of Varaha Avatara (incarnation) of God Vishnu. Since then our learning is incomplete without submitting before mother nature.
Let's plant trees, let's harvest rain water, segregate waste, no plastic, public transportation etc.. small steps but huge leap for humanity & mother Earth. Think. Discuss. Act. Small is always beautiful. Jai Hind. Shreyanka S Ranade.
