Q.1 What are significant figures?
Ans: All accurately known digits and first doubtful digit is called significant figures.
Example:
Accurately Known digits are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 because they represent the same value every where in the number.
Doubtful Digit is Zero (0). it changes its value place to place.
in 01 its value is only 1
in 10 its value is 10.
RULES:
1. None digits are significant.
2. Zero between Two significant is significant.
3. Zero on the left side of Significant digit is never significant.
4. Zero on right side of significant figure in decimal fraction is significant.
5. Zero on right side of significant figure without decimal point is not significant.
