How will Solskjaer setup Man Utd?

How will Solskjaer setup Man Utd? How will Solskjaer setup Manchester United for the 2019/20 season? Statman Dave takes a look at the tactics! It’s a big year ahead in the Premier League for the Red Devils, after a very up and down season last season. Can Ole Gunnar Solskjaer find a system that can get Man Utd back to the top in his first full season at Old Trafford.

After an incredible start to his time at Manchester United, going unbeaten in the league for three months, beating PSG over two legs - coming back in unreal fashion against the Paris side beating them 3-1 at the Parc des Princes and bringing a new energy to Carrington, after a disappointing two years with Jose Mourinho. Solskjaer’s side unfortunately hit a rough patch at the end of the season - finishing outside the top four, getting knocked out of the Champions League quarter finals by Barcelona and ending the season with a shock loss to already relegated side Cardiff city at Old Trafford.

So how does Solskjaer bring back the results from that ‘honeymoon period’? First will be certainly working on the intensity on the pitch. One of the key factors to United’s impressive run under Solskjaer beating the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG along the way - was playing with a good press and winning the ball back in key areas of the pitch, unfortunately the Red Devil’s seem to lose their legs at the end of the season and it reflected on their performances. Solskjaer will want to see the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Daniel James and new first team squad edition Mason Greenwood to bring the goals & pressing from the front to the side.

A potentially new look back four of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be the start of the rebuild for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United. If the Norwegian’s team manages to keep things tight at the back, it could see Paul Pogba and likely edition of Paulo Dybala having more of an effect offensively - with Maguire & Lindelof being comfortable with the ball at feet, allowing the world cup winner to posh forward and support the likes of Rashford, Martial, James and Greenwood.
