Liberal Senator hoping to take Warringah says Zali Steggall 'can't deliver'

Liberal Senator hoping to take Warringah says Zali Steggall 'can't deliver' NSW Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg will establish a permanent office in former prime minister Tony Abbott’s old seat as he says it’s important the people in Warringah “know there’s a government representative” in the area.

After holding the seat since the 1920s, the Liberal party lost Warringah to independent Zali Steggall who recently put forward a private member’s bill to adopt a net-zero emissions target.

Mr Bragg told Sky News host Chris Kenny an Independent member cannot be effective and “won’t be able to deliver anything” for their constituents.

He said the “first order of business” is quite evident and it is to establish why “exactly they didn’t support” the Liberal Party in the 2019 election.

Mr Bragg did not definitively say he would run for the seat in 2022, but said it was important people had “access to a member of the government”.
