Coronavirus situation being 'followed very closely'

Coronavirus situation being 'followed very closely' Deputy Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly says “the situation in China and internationally” is being followed “very closely”.

Mr Kelly told Sky News “we have known about this new virus from early January, but over the last week or so, we were notified to a worrying trend to increasing cases in the rest of China”.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Sunday foreign travellers coming from or passing through mainland China would be denied entry to Australia to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“All travellers arriving out of mainland China, not just Hubei province as has been the case up until now, are being asked and required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days from the time they leave mainland China,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said.
