Zebra finch
The zebra finch is the most common estrildid finch of Central Australia. It can also be found natively on Timor island.
Red avadavat
The red avadavat, red munia or strawberry finch, is a sparrow-sized bird of the family Estrildidae. It is found in the open fields and grasslands of tropical Asia and is popular as a cage bird due to the colourful plumage of the males in their breeding season.
These finches are generally seedeaters and eat a variety of plant seeds, especially grasses. Since season dictates seed availability, there are times of the year when insects and certain fruits, berries and vegetation will constitute the bulk of the diet.
