The Arab League council held an emergency meeting in Cairo called for by Egypt to discuss recent developments in Libya, Tuesday.
The permanent delegates of the council called on warring parties in Libya to avoid any course of action that might facilitate direct foreign interference in the North African nation, saying in a statement that this could lead to an influx of foreign extremists into Libya. They also warned against any measures that would prolong or escalate the conflict.
Fighting between forces loyal to Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) and General Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) is ongoing in Libya. Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that he will present a bill on Turkish military deployment in support of the GNA to Parliament next month.
