French Unions vs. pension reforms: Call for protests in Paris [STREAMED LIVE]

Ruptly is live from Paris as French trade unions called for a new round of protests on Tuesday, December 17, against pension reforms proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

On Wednesday, France’s Prime Minister Edouard Philippe stated that people should work an additional two years in order to get a full pension. The announcement prompted unions leaders to call for new demonstrations, saying that the prime minister had crossed a “red line” with a plan that would lead to a reduction in rights, pushing workers to delay their retirements.
