Franceschi Container Houses in San José, Costa Rica by Re architects + DAO. In this video, we bring you Franceschi Container Houses in in San José, Costa Rica by Re architects in collaboration with DAO. Franceschi Containers is a project born from the heart of a family that loves nature and is concerned about the environment, Because of their growing family, there was need to increase the space in which they live so that everyone has their independence and privacy but still stay together. The project contains three apartments, one for each of their sons on the same Santa Ana property that holds the main house. The development consists of three independent living units totaling 2,260 square feet, and are built from used, 40-foot-high cargo containers placed side by side. The three units share the same floor plan, and are raised upon concrete columns. Strategically positioned, the containers get the best quality of natural light and cross ventilation available on the site. This ensures that the construction impact on the terrain is minimal, and the soil beneath them can aerate and absorb rainwater. Project Summary.
