Rough Seas Affect Beach Goers, Competitors At Open Water Classic

Rough Seas Affect Beach Goers, Competitors At Open Water Classic Beach goers and persons seeking to do activities in the waters around the country are being affected by rough seas.

The MET office has an extended Rough Seas Warning, which is expected to subside by Saturday.

TTT Cameraman Nigel Jawahir went to Maracas on Monday and was told that the unfavourable water conditions forced the Amateur Swimming Association to cancel the 2019 Open Water Classic.

Chairman of the Amateur Swimming Association, Neil Marcano, said they have been trying to host the event since September.

The MET Office says effects from the rough seas event are usually in the form of occasional battering waves, which disrupt sea bathing and other near-shore coastal activities.
