南京西路，我想没有人不知道，它是上海市静安区及黄埔区的一条著名的街道。
1945年前叫“静安寺路”，民国时期与“霞飞路”（今汇海中路）齐名，是当时著名的高档与时尚的商业街，其特征传承至今。“静安寺路”始建于1860年代，最早只是上海公共租界的越界而修筑的一条道路。后来（1899年）已大部分纳入了租界范围。从20世纪开始到第一次世界大战爆发前的几年，在上海经商的发财的“洋豪”们（多为英国人）纷纷在静安寺路兴建大型独立花园别墅，于是，这条马路沿线就形成了上海最早的高级花园住宅区。到了上世纪20、30年代，静安寺路发生了改变，从独立花园为主，发展成公寓和里弄构成。之后随着，人口不断密集，沿街的商铺逐渐增多，形成了上海西区的商业中心。1941年12月，太平洋战争爆发，日军占领租界，静安寺路的鼎盛时期结束。1945年抗战结束，国民政府接收上海租界，将静安寺路更名为南京西路。

It was the same name as "Xiafei Road" (now Huihai Middle Road) during the Republic of China. It was a famous high-end and fashionable commercial street at that time, and its characteristics have been passed down to this day. “Jing'an Temple Road” was built in the 1860s and was only a road built by the cross-border of Shanghai's public concession. Later (1899) has been largely included in the concession. From the beginning of the 20th century to the years before the outbreak of the First World War, the “Yanghao” (mostly British) who had made a fortune in Shanghai had built large independent garden villas on Jing’an Temple Road. In the 1920s and 1930s, Jing'an Temple Road changed, from the independent garden to the development of apartments and Li. Later, with the population intensive, the number of shops along the street gradually increased, forming a commercial center in the West District of Shanghai. In December 1941, the Pacific War broke out, the Japanese occupied the concession, and the heyday of Jing'an Temple Road ended. After the end of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, the National Government accepted the Shanghai Concession and renamed Jing'an Temple Road to Nanjing West Road.
