After getting Tyseley ex BR Built Castle class 7029 Clun Castle on Vintage Train's The White Rose from Dorridge to York I was originally planning on getting The PRCLT's ex LMS Princess Coronation pacific 6233 Duchess of Sutherland working The Railway Touring Company's The Cheshireman from Norwich to Chester & back as far as Peterborough.
But sadly the engine was not fit to run due to the spindle valve on the right hand side of the loco was seized up & as a result The Cheshireman trip ended up having diesel traction.
So I cam up with a back up plan & I decided to make a trip to The Severn Valley Railway for the afternoon during their Blue timetable operations.
The locomotive I got for haulage during my afternoon visit was ex BR Standard class 4 75069 which had recently returned to traffic after she suffered a derailment after she hit a fallen down tree a few weeks previously.
We start at Kidderminster as we see her arriving with her 1st train of the day from Bridgnorth.
With her being tender 1st out of Kidderminster I didn't bother filming so I relaxed on the train.
Our next filming sequence is at Bridgnorth as we see her run round her train ready for her 2nd run of the day to Kidderminster.
It was from Bridgnorth our main filming began for the 16 mile trip to Kidderminster.
Like we did on her 1st official public train earlier in the season back in February she performed brilliantly during the journey we pass Phil Swallow's rebuilt West Country pacific 34027 Taw Valley at Hampton Loade & we pass The 2857 Society's ex GWR 28XX heavy gds 2-8-0 tender loco 2857 at Arley.
We carry on our tremendous run to Kidderminster which is were we end this video.
Thanks for reading enjoy the afternoon video with 75069.
