How to say 'How are you?' in Korean - Things you never find in the book

How to say 'How are you?' in Korean - Things you never find in the book Hello. My name is 김현철. I am Korean teacher
English sentence "How are you?" usually can be translated to "잘 지냈어요?“(jal jinaess-eoyo?) in Korean. Yes. That is right. But, 잘 지냈어요?(jal jinaess-eoyo?) is not always using like "How are you?" in english. There are two things you need to consider before you say to your Korean friend "잘 지냈어요?(jal jinaess-eoyo?)"

1. We Korean don't say “잘 지냈어요?”(jal jinaess-eoyo?) to a person(or people) whom we never met before. We only say it to whom we have already known.

2. Even if you have already known them, you can't say 잘 지냈어요?(jal jinaess-eoyo?) to whom you meet everyday. 잘 지냈어요? is not everyday greeting.

The reason Korean don't say 잘 지냈어요?(jal jinaess-eoyo?) very often is related to a greeting 안녕하세요.(Annyeong ha-sseyo) that is known "Hello" in Korean. I explained more in the video.

And I introduced 8 expressions (4 formal, 4 informal) you can say like “How are you?” to Korean people. I hope this video is helpful to improve your Korean language skill.

Thanks.
