Measuring Voltage Gently - Buffering For Greater Input Impedance - Simply Put

Measuring Voltage Gently - Buffering For Greater Input Impedance - Simply Put Multimeters and other voltmeters like oscilloscope probes have large input impedances (commonly 1 and 10 megaohms), and usually this is more than plenty to measure a voltage in a live circuit without significantly disturbing that circuit. But when you need to be even more careful and sneaky, or when you need to do something odd like measure the charge on a capacitor, a simple op-amp unity-gain buffer will allow you to do so.
