The World Health Organization's director general Tedros Ghebreyesus said on Thursday that a global research forum would take place Feb. 11 and 12 to identify research priorities and coordinate the international effort, with the aim to fast-track vaccine, diagnostic testing and medicine development.
Asked about the reporting of first cases, Health Emergencies Programme executive director Michael Ryan said that China had reported the first clusters of coronavirus in an "extremely timely" manner and said it was in part due to a system active for picking up unusual pneumonia cases.
