Brian Ruark is the Director of Cocal Gracias. This video is Brian explaining an urgent need in San Pedro Sula, Honduras for 24 impoverished students who have lost their school funding for 2020. Here is the gofundme link if you want to help:
Any donation will make an impact for one of these students. Thanks in advance for your tax deductible contribution to this cause.
My name is Jerry Goodwin. The last few years, I have supported a faith based organization in Honduras called Cocal Gracias (cocalgracias.org). The Cocal Gracias vision is to transform people to become agents of change in culture through a variety of means including spiritual wholeness and vocational training. One of their objectives is to impact Honduras by teaching trades through a ministry trade school, Ministerio La Voz, where people learn viable trades (for example, learning to speak English, sewing, auto mechanics, computer skills, and welding) to land gainful employment in society, support their families, and contribute to the future of Honduras. These students become strong in their faith and learn to be leaders in their community. Cocal Gracias recently celebrated their 10th year.
There is another school run by pastor Victor Hugo in San Pedro Sula, Honduras that has a similar mission and goals as Cocal Gracias, but focused on school age children. For the past 20 years, they have identified children in the worst situations, educated them, taught them about God and sent them into the world to make a difference. They are providing education for children who are the poorest of the poor, selected out of the favela in San Pedro Sula. Due to a change in priorities from another supporting organization, there are 24 children from kindergarten to 8th grade who need support to start school in February 2020. Cocal Gracias would like to sponsor these children, but the cost of $400 per child per school year it is beyond what they can do, and the need is urgent since funds need to be raised by mid January. The $400 includes their uniforms, books, materials, notebooks, etc., and school fees for a year, February through November.
The goal of this campaign is to raise $5K, which I will match dollar for dollar, resulting in $10K total, which will be enough for all 24 students.
