Indonesian Traditional Stick Figting !!! Hit each other using rattan sticks | Primitive Life This fight is called a peresean. Peresean is a match between two men using rattan sticks and thick and hard buffalo skin shields (a shield called ende). This tradition is carried out by the Sasak people, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Peresean included in Lombok regional dance art. Fighters in the Persesean are usually called pepadu and the referee is called pakembar.

Formerly Peresean was held to train the agility of the Sasak tribe in driving out the invaders. The background of Peresean is the Celebration of kings in the past when they won in a war against their enemies. In addition, in the past, Peresean also included media used by the pepadu to practice dexterity, toughness, and courage in competition. That said, Peresean is also a ceremony for rain for the Sasak tribe in the dry season. Now, Peresean is held to welcome guests or tourists visiting Lombok.
