Daniel James appeared to be knocked out after clashing with an opposition player during Wales’ Euro 2020 qualifying game against Croatia on Sunday night. However, the Manchester United winger was then allowed to carry on playing, a decision which shocked Ryan Mason. Mason, who was forced into early retirement after he fractured his skull during a match between Hull and Chelsea in 2017, believes James should have been substituted. The incident happened early on in the game, with Croatia 1-0 up after a goal from Nikola Vlasic. As James went in for a header he made contact with Croatia’s Domagoj Vida, which resulted in the Welshman left laying motionless on the field. Medical staff quickly ran onto the pitch to help James, as the player appeared to have been knocked out cold from the collision.
