Wrapping up EC when your child gives very few signals

Wrapping up EC when your child gives very few signals Today we are talking about transitioning a toddler out of EC, and what to expect! We'll discuss tips for making the process as smooth as possible, and what to do if there is a setback. For more on early potty training, check out my book The Tiny Potty Training Book -

Original Question:

"Hello! We have been trying to do an active “hybrid wrap up” with my 19 mo for the last couple of weeks. We started ECing @12 weeks PT. He does GREAT bare bottomed: takes himself to the potty, sometimes telling me beforehand, sometimes afterwards. But with undies, TTs or a dipe, he often forgets and just goes. Yesterday he peed in undies and looked stunned at the result (on the living room carpet). Have also had missed poops, which hasn’t happened in maybe a year? On the flip side, sometimes he’ll go 5x in 10 min, just so he can flush (producing at least a drop each time)! He has very few signals anymore, so relying on timing, intuition & communication. Thoughts? Thank you! :) (ps., he LOVES his “bear undies”!)"
