The holy bible states in 1 peter 5:8 be self controlled and alert, your enemy the devil prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The bible reveals that a powerful and intelligent and vastly influential spiritual being actively directs the wickedness and dominates our planet earth. This world lies in the power of the evil one and Jesus says he is the ruler of this world. You and I have a real personal enemy. Devil is a powerful real being but without a mortal body. Satan works through the sinful nature of the people. Satan has a main goal to turn us away from the real God. Satan’s main way of opposing God and destroying God’s people is not in the physical or material realm but in the mental / intellectual/ moral realm. We should realize that there is not only a God who loves us but there is also an evil enemy who only desires bad things to happen to us. Satan works through sin and evil desires of the people. We can do righteousness only through Jesus power i.e. the Holy Spirit. Jesus told those who are thirsty come and drink from me, rivers of water will gush out from his belly. Satan works through our negative and sinful emotions. It is a reality beyond dispute that many of our sicknesses we go through are because of our poor emotional and mental health.
Our body responds to the way we feel, think and act. Medical science recognizes that emotions such as fear, sorrow, envy, resentment, hatred are responsible for the majority of our sicknesses and if we are staying in our sinful emotions, we are giving an opportunity to the devil. With the strength of the Holy Spirit we can do righteousness. Another way Satan works in us is through our guilt. Consciousness of guilt will trouble our sensitive human soul. It is the consciousness and sorrow of the sin and guilt will lead ones to repentance. Guilt is the opposite of innocence. When a person does not want to do complete righteousness guilt will remain. If a person is not recognizing his sin, he carries his guilt without his knowledge and Satan gives more power to his guilt to give him more harm. Such people’s thinking will be always negative. God’s firm foundation stands bearing his seal the lord knows those who are his and everyone who name the name of the lord depart from iniquity. Only solution for guilt is forgiveness and we can get is only through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Sin has serious consequences. Satan’s aim is to deceive and destroy the people. If we fall into temptation we have to face the consequences. Pray not to fall into the temptation. God will give us power when we decide and consciously want to do righteousness. Submit to God Satan will flee from you. Satan works through our sinful desires and through every doubts and confusion about the real God. Without creator’s power nobody can stand against this enemy. Fight a good fight of faith to stand against this enemy. It is our responsibility to stay awake and pray for His strength and overcome our sin. Decide not to sin and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Every day we are in war. Wars waged carelessly are war lost. Those who are in Christ are more than conquerors.
