I have personally seen AA promoters use everything from Quantum Physics to Epigenetics to back up their phony cult religion. Along with people using their extensive educations. Well, the problem is, Quantum Physics or Epigenetics, has NOTHING to do with Spirituality, Quitting Drinking or the 12 Steps. The Soviet Goverment once supported pseudo-scientific Lysenkoism, and the parallel with Lysenko and the 12 Step Conglomerate is uncannny.
